The World's Newest Ultra-Luxury Ship Is Making Miami Its Caribbean Home Base
EXPLORA III — Explora Journeys' newest and most spacious ship, and the brand's first LNG-powered vessel — is heading to PortMiami for her inaugural Caribbean season after a North American debut in New York City.

EXPLORA III just made her maiden call to New York City. Next stop: Miami. Explora Journeys' newest ship — the brand's third vessel and its first LNG-powered hull — is working her way down the East Coast before arriving at PortMiami to launch her inaugural Caribbean season. For a city that already hosts more cruise passengers than anywhere else on earth, this one is worth paying attention to.
Explora Journeys sits at the top of the ocean travel market — the ultra-elegant tier where suites face the ocean, the culinary program is the point rather than an afterthought, and the ship itself is the destination. EXPLORA III is the most spacious ship in the fleet so far, and it introduces expanded wellness offerings and redesigned public spaces that the brand says push the experience further than EXPLORA I and EXPLORA II. The six-ship vision has a 2028 target. EXPLORA III is the halfway mark.
What's Different About EXPLORA III
The LNG propulsion is the headline engineering note — cleaner fuel, quieter operation, and a meaningful step in the brand's sustainability posture. Beyond that, the ship brings enhanced culinary concepts (Explora Journeys has built its food program into a genuine differentiator across the fleet), expanded wellness facilities, and the oceanfront suite configuration that defines the brand's approach to space. Every suite faces the water. That's not a given even at this price point.
The brand calls its philosophy an Ocean State of Mind — a deliberate pace, intuitive service, and itineraries designed around immersive time in destinations rather than port-to-port efficiency. For the Caribbean season out of Miami, that means guests board at PortMiami and spend the season in a region that rewards exactly that kind of unhurried engagement.
Why Miami
PortMiami handled more than 10 million cruise passengers last year. It is the busiest cruise port in the world, and it is the logical home base for any ship launching a Caribbean season — the logistics work, the airlift is there, and the city itself is a destination worth arriving in a day early. For EXPLORA III, Miami is not just a turnaround port. It is the launch point for a season that the brand is positioning as a flagship moment in its North American expansion.
