The Galas Worth Knowing: PGM's Guide to the 2026/2027 Miami Charity Season

Miami's charity season doesn't announce itself. It arrives quietly in September and builds through June — a rolling calendar of galas, luncheons, and benefit dinners that collectively raise tens of millions of dollars for the city's most vital institutions. This is PGM's guide to the events worth circling.

Miami's charity season doesn't announce itself. It arrives quietly in September and builds through June — a rolling calendar of galas, luncheons, and benefit dinners that collectively raise tens of millions of dollars for the city's most vital institutions. PGM covers them. This is the guide to the events worth circling.

The Ones That Define the Season

The 69th Annual Vizcaya Ball (November 21) is the oldest and most storied gala on the calendar. Held on the grounds of the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens — the 1916 Italian Renaissance villa on Biscayne Bay — it is the event that has anchored Miami's social season longer than almost any other institution in the city. Sixty-nine years of the same venue, the same mission, the same commitment to preserving one of South Florida's irreplaceable landmarks.

The New World Symphony's 39th Anniversary Gala (February 27) is the other anchor. NWS built the cultural identity of Miami Beach's SoundScape Park and has trained more than 1,100 alumni who now perform in orchestras worldwide. Their annual gala is a celebration of what Miami's investment in young musicians has produced — and a preview of what's coming next.

The Adrienne Arsht Center's 21st Anniversary Gala (March 13) marks two decades of the building that changed downtown Miami. Before the Arsht opened in 2006, there was no world-class performing arts venue in the urban core. The gala honors that transformation and funds the programming that keeps it accessible.

The Cultural Institutions

PAMM's Art of the Party (November 7) is the museum's signature fundraiser — and one of the most visually spectacular events of the fall season. The Pérez Art Museum Miami sits on the waterfront in Museum Park, and the party uses the building and its surroundings as the canvas. It is less a gala than an experience.

The Frost Museum of Science presents An Evening of Discovery: The Science Behind Pixar (November 5), pairing the museum's mission with one of the most beloved animation studios in the world. HistoryMiami's History Icon Awards (February 9) honors the people and stories that shaped this city — a natural fit for PGM's archive sensibility. And Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden hosts two events: Splendor in the Garden (January 21) and Gala in the Garden (February 6), both set among the 83-acre collection in Coral Gables.

The Music and Arts Circuit

Florida Grand Opera's 85th Anniversary Gala (April 24) carries the theme 'Miami: 2037' — the company imagining the city's future through the lens of its oldest performing arts institution. Young Patronesses of the Opera presents Opera Meets Jazz (November 13), one of the more inventive pairings on the calendar. The WDNA Jazz Gala (January 15) supports South Florida's only jazz radio station, 88.9FM, which has been broadcasting since 1984.

YoungArts Miami Gala (January 9) is particularly resonant for PGM — we already have the YoungArts Voice Performance event in our database, and the organization's work identifying and supporting the next generation of American artists is among the most consequential cultural investments in the country.

The Causes That Define Miami

The Baptist Health South Florida Foundation Grand Gala (October 24) is one of the largest healthcare fundraisers in the region. The Nicklaus Children's Hospital Foundation appears twice — the Diamond Ball (October 10) and Fashion Gives Back (November 12) — reflecting the hospital's central place in South Florida's philanthropic calendar. The Buoniconti Fund's Great Sports Legends Dinner (October 5) has been raising money to cure paralysis since 1985, when Nick Buoniconti's son Marc was injured on a football field.

Guitars Over Guns (October 24) is the one that surprises people who don't know it. The Miami-based nonprofit uses music mentorship to keep at-risk youth off the streets — and their 90s-themed gala is one of the most genuinely fun events on the calendar. The theme alone — Everybody Dance Now — earns it a spot on this list.

The Full Calendar

The complete 2026/2027 season runs from September 2026 through June 2027, with more than sixty events across Miami-Dade and Broward counties. All events are now in PGM's events database. The full calendar includes everything from the Underline Sneaker Ball (January 30) to the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce's 101st Annual Gala (May 15) — a century of civic celebration in a single evening.
