Ted Nugent — the Motor City Madman — came to Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale on June 29, 2010. Nugent has been cranking his Gibson Byrdland and performing like a madman since his days with the Amboy Dukes in the late 1960s, and the Revolution Live show was a reminder that four decades of hard rock had done nothing to diminish the intensity of his live performance.
The setlist drew from across his career — Amboy Dukes classics, solo material, and the Damn Yankees catalog — delivered with the relentless energy and guitar virtuosity that has made Nugent one of rock's most enduring live performers. His Gibson Byrdland, played through a wall of amplification, filled Revolution Live with the kind of raw, uncompromising hard rock that the venue was built for.
"Cat Scratch Fever," "Stranglehold," "Free-For-All," and "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" were among the highlights. The Fort Lauderdale crowd responded with the kind of full-throated enthusiasm that Nugent's music has always inspired.
