Wiz Khalifa came to Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale on June 20, 2010 — a show that captured the young Pittsburgh rapper at the precise moment before his mainstream breakthrough. His mixtapes had built a devoted national following, Vibe, XXL, and Rolling Stone had all profiled him, and his independent debut Show and Prove had sold tens of thousands of copies. The Revolution Live show was the kind of intimate club performance that would become impossible within a year.
Khalifa's appeal was already fully formed — the laid-back charisma, the Pittsburgh pride, the weed-culture aesthetic that would define his brand, and the genuine lyrical ability that separated him from the crowd. The Revolution Live crowd was young, energetic, and knew every word.
Within months of this show, "Black and Yellow" would make Wiz Khalifa a household name. The June 20 Revolution Live performance was one of the last chances to see him in a room this size.
