Miami knows a thing or two about bad lunch decisions. The $20 smoothie that left you hungry by 2pm. The $25 salad that was mostly air. The greasy burger from that place you swore you'd never go back to. Subway is calling all of it out — and this Halloween, they're turning your lunchtime regrets into free Footlongs.
The campaign is called Lunchtime Horror Stories, and it is exactly what it sounds like. Subway is inviting anyone who has suffered through a regrettable lunch to confess at LunchtimeHorrors.com between now and October 16. In exchange, you're entered for a chance to receive a $15 Subway eGift card — enough to cover a freshly made Footlong with all the fixings.
The timing is no accident. A new Subway-commissioned survey found that 66 percent of American adults say they at least sometimes regret their lunch choice. Another 70 percent say they regularly skip lunch at least once a week. The top culprits: food that didn't fill them up (34 percent), meals that weren't worth the price (28 percent), and eating something unhealthy they immediately regretted (35 percent). Miami, a city where a casual lunch can easily run $30 before tip, will recognize every single one of those statistics.
The campaign builds on Subway's Feed Your SUBconscious brand platform, launched in September, featuring actor and comedian Will Arnett as the inner voice steering you toward a better option. "This Halloween, they're giving away thousands of them," Arnett said of the free Footlongs. "I could say more, but 'free Footlong' really does most of the work."
To enter, head to LunchtimeHorrors.com and confess your worst lunch story before October 16 at 11:59 p.m. ET. There are five entry periods running through the promotion, with 1,000 $15 digital Subway Gift Cards available per period. No purchase necessary. Full terms at LunchtimeHorrors.com.
