Part of our ongoing curation of what it means to live, love, and play in the Magic City.
Deering Estate has been standing on the edge of Biscayne Bay since 1922. The stories it holds are older than that. October is when it lets them out.
Known as one of the most haunted places in South Florida, Deering Estate — a Miami-Dade County Heritage Park — offers a series of ghost tours where guests can step into the past and explore the history of the estate. Guides will share stories of historic events, insights into previous inhabitants, and the record of paranormal activity experienced by visitors and staff. Walk the same paths that Indigenous People, Miami's early settlers, and even Charles Deering walked as the tour navigates the moments that linger on.
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays in October, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Tickets: $45 per person. Space is limited — tickets can be purchased online in advance.
Ages: Recommended for ages 9 and up. Tours may contain mature subject matter.
This is Play Miami — the city's stage, its courts, its dancefloors and event calendars. From Art Basel to the concert arenas, from nightlife to the festivals that define the season, this is how Miami plays.
Equipment used to detect paranormal activity — such as pendulums, dowsing rods, EMF meters and cameras — is welcome.
Deering Estate is located at 16701 SW 72 Ave., Miami. It is a 21st Century house museum, cultural and ecological field station, and a national landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, owned by the State of Florida and managed by Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. The estate spans 450 acres and encompasses eight native ecosystems.

The PGM Edit
Miami's history is not all sunshine and new construction. Deering Estate is one of the places where the city's older, stranger story lives. The ghost tours are the best way to hear it.
